File - Setup

Use this option to configure how MusiFind Pro operates.

Please note: We recommend using the simpler Setup Wizard under most circumstances. The detailed setup options are generally retained for compatibility with earlier versions and are unnecessary for most collections.

General Options:

Date format – Select the format in which to show song and album release dates. We recommend “Year Only”. Many sources only supply the year, and many reports are formatted with enough room for just a four-character release date.

CD drive to use – Select the CD drive where MusiFind Pro should look to find CD’s when performing Internet Database retrieval, CD player, or Read CD Information operations.

FreeDB Host – Select the server closest to your location for best performance.

FreeDB User Name – Enter your desired user name. It should contain only letters and numbers; no spaces or punctuation is allowed.

Auto-capitalization style – Select the logic MusiFind Pro should use when performing “auto-capitalization” of artist or title fields. An example of mixed-case would be “Beatles, The”, whereas all uppercase would be “BEATLES, THE”. We recommend “Mixed-case” because more information can be displayed in a given amount of space.

Use auto-completion when entering artist name – Have the nearest match to what you are currently typing displayed as you enter artists in albums and songs.

Fields:

User Defined Key Field – Song lists and reports may be sorted by artist, song title, album, and several other fields. The user defined key field is an extra field that can be used in sorting, with the user deciding what the label of the field should be.

Change …. on songs when changed on album – Depending upon the requirements of a given music collection, it may be advantageous to have changes made to album fields automatically reflected in the associated song fields. For example, if an album is on CD, all of the songs on that album are likely on CD, so “Change media type…” should be checked. As a contrary example, consider the case where a collection catalogs home-made cassettes that originally came from another source – in this case, the user may wish to have the album media type set to “cassette” while each song may have a media type of “CD” , “vinyl”, “video”, or “DVD”. We recommend checking the “Change file number…” and “Change media type…” boxes for most collections.

Start Up:

Show at start up – These checkboxes indicate which lists should automatically be opened when a collection is opened.

At start up, select last order tab used – If checked, the currently selected “sort tab” is noted whenever a list is closed, and reselected when the list is re-opened. If not checked, the first (left-most) “sort tab” is always selected when a list is re-opened.

Adding:
All of the options on this tab are “legacy options” that are primarily used to force MusiFind Pro to behave as it did in previous versions for users with unusual requirements. We highly recommend leaving these options at their default (as shown).

Add Mode(Legacy option) When the “Add” button is pressed on the list of songs, one of three actions is performed: A song is added (normal action), a single artist album is added, or a compilation is added. We recommend leaving this option set to “normal”, and using the menu or toolbar if you require one of the other actions.

When adding…use compilation wizard - (Legacy option) When the CD player detects a new CD, the normal action is to start the “Add CD from Internal Database” wizard so that information may be automatically retrieved. Checking this box causes the CD player to call the “Tools->Wizards->Add Compilation” menu item instead. We recommend leaving this option off.

Automatically add…Album(Legacy option) When an alternate “Add Mode” is used, it is optional to add the related album. We recommend leaving this box checked.
