Tutorial - Adding an album (on CD) using an Internet Database

-      Start the Internet Database Wizard by pressing F6 on your keyboard, or by clicking on the “NET” icon on the toolbar.

-      Select the source to use:

o     FreeDB, offering Album, Artist, Song Title and Track time information, based on information read from a CD in the drive you specified in Setup . If you haven’t done so already, go to Setup now to select a FreeDB server and user name.

o     All Music Guide (www.allmusic.com), an online database offering varying amounts of information ranging from Album, Artist, and Song Title information to Album, Artist, Release Date, Album Review, Song Title, Composer, and Track time information.

o     CDNow (www.cdnow.com), an online database offering varying amounts of information ranging from Album, Artist, and Song Title information to Album, Artist, Category, Song Title, Composer, and Track time information.

o     MusiFind Pro servers (available in version 3.1 and above) provided by other MusiFind Pro users sharing their collection.

-      If you have selected FreeDB, insert the CD that you wish to add to the current MusiFind Pro collection into . Once you have inserted the CD, wait a moment for Windows to accept the CD, then press Next.

-      If you have selected “All Music Guide” or “CDNow”, press Next, then enter the name of the Album to search for, then press Next.

-      If more than one match is found, click on the item in list presented that best matches your CD, and then click on Select.

-      MusiFind Pro now shows the basic album information retrieved from the Internet Database. You can modify or correct the information retrieved. If no match was found, simply enter the information in manually. See Editing Albums for more information on fields and the buttons to the right of each field. Once you have made your changes, press Next.

-      Finally, make any changes to the individual song items for the newly imported album.

The buttons along the bottom of the list of songs are:

o     Add

o     Copy

o     Edit

o     Delete

o     Move track up one

o     Move track to top

o     Move track down one

o     Move track to bottom

o     Swap all artist and title fields

o     Edit All Songs

Once you have completed your changes, press Finish to save this album information. You will then be returned to the start of the wizard, and can add another CD or “Cancel” out of the wizard if you are done.

 

Note: MusiFind Pro uses FreeDB, the public domain Internet CD database. If you wish to use CDDB2, download Author Direct’s free CD Assistant, available from our web site . Although MusiFind Pro and CD Assistant collections are completely interchangeable, please carefully review Gracenote’s terms of use for CDDB2 during CD Assistant installation regarding some restrictions that may apply to the data you retrieve using CDDB2.
