First, indicate the type of information you wish to store, and if that stored information will be sent to other applications.

"Store password information…when you ask it to be": Passwords Max will create a password account that will store password-related information and send the password (or any combination of data that you select) when the "Send" button is pressed.

"Store password information…automatically": Passwords Max will create a password account that will store password-related information and send the password (or any combination of data that you select) when an applications window "title" is detected during monitoring.

"Just store information": Passwords Max will create a password account to store your password-related information, but will not collect the information required to send data to external applications.

"Store other information": Passwords Max will create an account to store non-password information such as credit card numbers.

Account Description and Category

After pressing "Next", give the account a description, and optionally assign it to a category. Please note that accounts without a category will not be displayed in the "Passwords by Category" list.

If you are using the Enterprise Edition for Groups, you must also assign a level to the password. You may not assign a level higher than that of the active user.

Name and password

Next, enter the name (if any) that is associated with this password account, and the password. Rather than entering in a pre-determined password, you may wish to have the automatic password generator create it for you.

Passwords with specific characteristics can be generated automatically.

Document, application, or internet location

Next, you may enter the location and/or name of a document, application, or internet location that this password account is associated with. On the "Passwords" list, a "Start" button is available to automatically start the document you enter here.

Sending information to external applications, part one

One of the things you will want Passwords Max to do for you is to automatically type your password (or other information) directly into another application. To do this you will need to tell Passwords Max what "window title" to look for. You can enter this information in one of two ways:

(1) Switch to the application and then switch back to Passwords Max (see above).

(2) Enter the window title manually. You can select from a list of open windows, or type it in. You can also use wildcards to reduce the amount of typing required, or increase the chance of finding the window if the title changes.

Sending information to external applications, part two

Once you have indicated which application is the target, you need to indicate what data will be sent. You can select one of the common presets, or build an expression. In addition to the values and keys you may add a pause anywhere in the expression using the [WAIT] token.

Example:

Let’s say we need to send a name and password to a web page containing a form. After the form is completed, a second page appears that requires you to press Enter to confirm something. We enter the following expression:

[TAB 11][NAME][TAB][PASSWORD][TAB][SPACE][WAIT 50][TAB 2][ENTER]

This will send 11 tabs, the name and password, and complete the form, then wait 5 seconds and send two tabs and complete the next form.

Once you have completed entering information for this password account, press "Finish".
