Background

Passwords Max can be used by one person, or by many*, and you can have each users password list encrypted and secured with a unique password. When you first install Passwords Max, it automatically defaults to the basic setup, one user ("Default User") with no password list security. If this setup meets your needs, you may proceed to the section on entering passwords.

If you will be the only person using Passwords Max, you may wish to just leave the name of the single user as "Default User", but change the password. As installed, the password for the "Default User" is "Not Required". This phrase indicates to Passwords Max that you do not wish to be asked for your password every time a new operation begins. In other words, you would click on the "Passwords" button, and your passwords would immediately appear. To enter your password, press the "Users" button on the toolbar, or select "Lists" then "Users" on the main menu. "Default User" will already be highlighted, so just press "Change". You can then enter and confirm your new password. Your changes will be saved when you press the OK button.

Remember: Once you have entered a password, you cannot access your personal password list in any way without first entering your password. There is no way to recover this password, so it is the one and only one you need to remember. If you do not want to be asked for a password before using your password list, enter a password of "Not Required".

If more than one person will be using Passwords Max, you can set each person up by pressing the "Users" button on the toolbar, or selecting "Lists" then "Users" on the main menu. For each user, press the "Add" button and enter a unique name, their password, and their password once more to confirm its accuracy. Your changes will be saved when you press the OK button.

When you are done editing user information, press the "Close" button.
