I recently bought a new computer HP180t. I am in the process of transfering all my programs from my old computer to the new one. Most things are going well. I managed to get my Password Max installed and got my password data base installed . It is working as expected. I recieved a notice about the new update for the program. When I try to install as I have done in the past it appeares to reject my user name and password. It reports something about the server does not accept the type of input. I should of wrote it down. Any help would be appreciated.

It's most likely to be a browser setting regarding plain text authentication.

Please let me know what the exact error message is - thanks!

Hi Vince, Thaanks for your quick reply. Below I copyied the following text.
Windows Security
!
The serverwww.authord.com at Registered_User_Access requires a username and password.
Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection}.
I tried to figure out how to send plain txt/insecure manner but it is beyond me. Just learning the new Win 7 64 bit program. I hope you can explain the fix to me. Thanks

Hi Vince,
I tried using IE8 and IE8 64 bit. I tried Internet Options,Security Tab, and near the bottom of that window there was a check mark in a box with the following comment"Enable Protected mode(requires restarting Internet explorer)". I removed the check mark(gave warning about security) and restarted Internet explorer. I tried again to get the PasswordMax update by copying and pasting the user name from the e-mail,That failed. I then restarted IE8 and then I tried again but this time I typed in the user name and password. It Worked! I then went back to the Internet options and put the check mark back in the Box for "Enable Protected Mode". I decided to restart the computer and try again to get the download by copying and pasting from the e-mail informing me of the update. Failed again! I then copied the UN & PW informatin into Password Max. It failed. I then copied the site address into Password Max. I then used PM to get to the download site and selected send. I was allowed to get the download. I restarted the computer and the used PasswordMax to get the download and selected the "Send" and it works. I now have the lastest ver of PM. I will be waiting for the next update to see if it continues to work. I apologize for the long report but thought you would like to know. I really like the program. Keep up the good work.

What I was referring to was the "User Authentication" setting at the bottom of the list you get when you press "Custom Level" on that Security tab.
