What is shareware?
Shareware is the term used for software that can be evaluated for a period before it is purchased. It is not free.

When is my evaluation period over?

All of our products have a 30-day evaluation period. After this period has passed you must uninstall the evaluation version or register. There is a grace period to allow your registration package to reach you. After that grace period, the software will not operate. Why doesn't Schedule Wizard show my task?

Schedule Wizard stores one copy of each task. When that task is executed, it is updated to re-occur as required, and an optional history record is created.

One of the most common reasons for a task not being shown is that your "List of Scheduled Tasks" window is limited to a single-day view, and the task in question is not due until after the day shown. To view all tasks, simply click on the "All By Date" tab. You can make this the default view whenever you start Schedule Wizard by selecting File->Setup, then the General Tab, then ensure the "Show full schedule initially" checkbox is checked.

Why does Schedule Wizard run automatically at the start of each Windows Session?

Running Schedule Wizard at the start of every Windows session ensures that your tasks are performed on schedule whenever your computer is running.

It is recommended that a shortcut (icon) for Schedule Wizard be kept in the Windows Startup group; Schedule Wizard is automatically added to your start group during installation.

Note: If you are running Windows NT/2000, and using the Schedule Wizard Automation Edition with the NT service module installed, it is recommended that you remove Schedule Wizard from your Startup group if you do not want to review or modify your schedule on a regular basis.

Automation Edition: Main Schedule Wizard shows as "Inactive" why?

Windows NT/2000 is a much more security-oriented environment than Windows 95/98. When a user is not actively using it (such as overnight in a typical office environment), it is recommended by Microsoft that the user log off. Obviously, the usefulness of programs that require a user to be logged on is therefore limited. There is a need to be able to perform critical system tasks without a user being logged on. This is where "NT Services" are necessary.

The Schedule Wizard NT Service can perform your tasks whenever your system is up, even when no user is logged on. The main Schedule Wizard program should not perform the tasks because the Service will perform them; therefore the main Schedule Wizard program is automatically set to "Inactive" by the Service.

NOTE: The main user interface, where you enter and maintain tasks, is separate from the Service. When you need to update the Schedule, simply start the main Schedule Wizard program. You may even wish to add it to your personal Start Up folder, so that it is available whenever you are logged on.

How do I install a multi-user (non-enterprise) edition?

Multi-user edition can be used in any combination where the total number of users does not exceed your license. Here are some sample cases:

- - Installed on individual machines (within a single organization).
Procedure: Run SETUP.EXE on each machine.

- - A main (central) schedule is performed by a single Schedule Wizard NT Service, or Deluxe Edition Schedule Wizard, and is maintained by an administrator. All other users can view the schedule.
Procedure: Run SETUP.EXE on the server. Create shortcuts for the other users that link to the already installed SW98.EXE. These shortcuts should have the "Start In" shortcut parameter set to the directory where SW98.EXE was installed. If you are using the Deluxe Edition, use SWVO.EXE /I instead of SW98.EXE.

If your registered copy of Schedule Wizard was downloaded before we included the deployment kit, you can download a copy here.

How do I record macros?

Use the Macro Recorder. Recorded macros may be exported as standard Schedule Wizard scripts.
